ICAPA Awards Six-Year Accreditation to Uganda Management Institute and ISCTE Portugal

Diogo Pereira,

The International Commission on Accreditation of Public Administration Education and Training Programs (ICAPA) has approved accreditation for two institutions: Uganda Management Institute and ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon.

Both institutions have been awarded accreditation for a period of six years following a comprehensive evaluation process. The review confirmed strong adherence to ICAPA's standards of excellence and demonstrated compliance with accreditation requirements across all assessed areas.

This achievement reflects the commitment of both institutions to high-quality public administration education and professional development. The IIAS community congratulates Uganda Management Institute and ISCTE on this important recognition and acknowledges the dedication of all those who contributed to the accreditation process.

About ICAPA

The International Commission on Accreditation of Public Administration Education and Training Programs (ICAPA) is the quality assurance body of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA), an entity of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS).

As of 2025, ICAPA accreditation is based on the newly updated Standards of Excellence for Public Administration Education and Training, jointly developed by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and IASIA following a two-year global review process involving more than 1,200 experts and practitioners worldwide. The revised standards incorporate contemporary governance challenges, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), inclusiveness, diversity, community engagement, innovation, and collaborative partnerships as key dimensions of excellence.

As the only truly international accrediting body dedicated to public administration education and training, ICAPA recognizes programs that demonstrate a strong commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and the preparation of future public service leaders capable of addressing complex governance challenges in an increasingly interconnected world.
