On 15 October 2025, the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) elected Professor Liezel Lues, from the University of the Free State (South Africa), as its new President for the 2025–2028 term. The election also brought forward a new Board of Management, representing institutions from all world regions and reaffirming IASIA’s truly global and inclusive character.
In her inaugural message, Prof. Lues expressed her gratitude and commitment to the association’s mission:
“It is with sincere gratitude and a profound sense of responsibility that I accept the honour of serving as IASIA President. This opportunity constitutes a milestone in my public service journey, shaped first by years in government and later through academic engagement in the field of public administration… I step into this presidency with energy and optimism, fully committed to the opportunities that lie ahead for IASIA and its global stakeholders.”
She emphasized IASIA’s role in advancing excellence in public administration through accreditation, interdisciplinary research, and international collaboration. Her vision for the new term includes strengthening financial sustainability, digital inclusivity, member engagement, and fostering ethical innovation across the network.
Extending his congratulations, Mr. Voruganti Srinivas, President of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), commended the newly elected leadership:

The International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) was pleased to welcome Professor Liu Hong, Director at the Nanyang Centre for Public Administration at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and Professor Shen Wei, from the School of Public Administration at Zhejiang University, to the IIAS office in Brussels on 5 June 2026.
The IIAS Director General, Dr. Sofiane Sahraoui, and Secretariat bid farewell to Herbert Baumgartner and Manuela Ernst, from the Austrian Court of Audit, who have served as external auditors of the Institute.
The International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) is inviting proposals from experienced service providers to manage the production of the French-language edition of the International Review of Administrative Sciences (IRAS), the Revue Internationale des Sciences Administratives (RISA).
