Within the framework of the Ninth Meeting of the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development, held at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) from April 14 to 16, 2026, the president of the Latin American Group for Public Administration (LAGPA/IIAS) and director of the Institute of Prospective, Innovation and Management of the Knowledge of the Universidad del Valle, Dr. Edgar Varela Barrios, played a prominent role as a panelist and promoter of regional cooperation initiatives.


The LAGPA 2025 Conference, organized by the Latin American Group for Public Administration (LAGPA), the regional branch of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), took place from 29 September to 1 October 2025 in Lima, Peru. The event was co-organized with the support of the University of Valle (Colombia), the Graduate School “Fernando Belaunde Terry” of the University San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL, Peru), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL), the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), and the Latin American Center for Development Administration (CLAD).


The Latin American Group for Public Administration (LAGPA) has announced the election of its new President, marking a key moment for the organization and its continued mission to advance public administration research and practice across Latin America.

It is with the greatest sorrow that we heard the passing away of our dear colleague and friend Dr. Fabienne Maron on December 30th, 2024.  This sad event came as a shock to all of us as we were away on the end of year break. Our greatest regret is that we were not around when she said good bye. 

Fabienne will remain as an icon of IIAS. She joined us in 2000 upon graduation with a PhD from UCLouvain. During her 24 year long service with IIAS, she was key to the spectacular development of the European Group ...


The Latin American Group for Public Administration (LAGPA), the regional entity of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), played a pivotal role at the XXIX International Congress on State Reform and Public Administration. The event, organized by the Centro Latinoamericano de Administración para el Desarrollo (CLAD) in partnership with the Government of Brazil, the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI), the National School of Public Administration (ENAP), and other key collaborators, took place in Brasília from November 26 to 29, 2024.


In a productive meeting held at the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) in Mexico, in October 2024, leading representatives from the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) and INAP gathered to discuss avenues for collaboration and the prospect of re-establishing INAP’s membership with IIAS as a national section.


The LAGPA 2024 Conference was held in Mexico City, Mexico, on 22-24 October 2024. The event was organized by the Latin American Group for Public Administration (LAGPA), the regional entity of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), the University of Valle (Colombia), and the Mexican National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) with support from the Latin American and Caribbean Development Bank (CAF), and addressed the theme "New Perspectives and Challenges of Democracy and Governance in Latin America." Convening approximately 200 participants over three days, the conference brought together attendees from Mexico, Colombia, Tunisia, Morocco, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, and the United States to discuss critical issues facing the Latin American region.

The Latin American Group for Public Administration (LAGPA), a regional chapter of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), recently concluded its Annual Conference in Santiago de Chile, from January 15 to 17, 2024. Hosted at the University of Chile, the conference was held in collaboration with the Faculty of Government at the University of Chile and the University of Valle (Cali, Colombia).
