UN DESA Launches Innovative Training Toolkit Empowering Public Servants to Drive SDG Implementation

Diogo Pereira,

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) has unveiled an innovative Curriculum on Governance for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to equip public servants with the knowledge and tools necessary to accelerate progress toward these vital global objectives.

The Curriculum comprises a series of Training of Trainers Toolkits, featuring readily adaptable training materials focused on key governance measures essential for making the SDGs a reality. These Toolkits offer methodologies and approaches to enhance knowledge and enable governments to build the capacities required to drive transformative change.

Key topics covered by the Curriculum's Toolkits include:

  • Changing mindsets in public institutions to implement the 2030 Agenda.
  • Promoting transparency, accountability, and ethics in public institutions.
  • Advancing effective national-to-local public governance for SDG implementation.
  • Encouraging government innovation to foster social inclusion of vulnerable groups.
  • Embracing risk-informed governance and innovative technologies for disaster risk reduction and resilience.
