The 6th Volume of the IIAS Public Governance Series, titled Governance Cooperation in a Conflict-Ridden Context: The Case of the GIFT-MENA Network, offers an in-depth institutional analysis of the GIFT-MENA network and its efforts to foster regional cooperation in governance and public financial management in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Authored by Lamia El Moubayed Bissat, Sabine Hatem Khalil, and Carl Rihan, and prefaced by Michiel S. de Vries, the book examines the complex challenges faced by the network in its attempt to build a sustainable platform for South-South cooperation amidst a volatile geopolitical landscape.


In a productive meeting held at the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) in Mexico, in October 2024, leading representatives from the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) and INAP gathered to discuss avenues for collaboration and the prospect of re-establishing INAP’s membership with IIAS as a national section.


The LAGPA 2024 Conference was held in Mexico City, Mexico, on 22-24 October 2024. The event was organized by the Latin American Group for Public Administration (LAGPA), the regional entity of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), the University of Valle (Colombia), and the Mexican National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) with support from the Latin American and Caribbean Development Bank (CAF), and addressed the theme "New Perspectives and Challenges of Democracy and Governance in Latin America." Convening approximately 200 participants over three days, the conference brought together attendees from Mexico, Colombia, Tunisia, Morocco, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, and the United States to discuss critical issues facing the Latin American region.


On October 14-15, 2024, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA), the specialized entity of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), convened an Expert Group Meeting at the UN Headquarters in New York. This event was part of the UN DESA/IASIA Global Task Force aimed at developing new Standards of Excellence for Public Administration Education and Training.


The LAGPA 2024 Conference, under the theme "New Perspectives and Challenges of Democracy and Governance in Latin America," will take place from October 22-24, 2024, in Mexico City.
