The International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) has officially opened the Call for Papers and Call for Panels for its 2026 Annual Conference, inviting scholars, practitioners, educators, and policy-makers worldwide to contribute to this year’s global dialogue on public governance.

The International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) will hold its Annual Conference from 12 to 16 October 2026 in Athens, Greece, hosted by the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government (EKDDA).

Dear Members of the IASIA Community,

I am pleased to inform you that the General Assembly of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA), at its meeting held on 14 October 2025 in Mexico City, elected the new Board of Management (Annexure A) for the 2025–2028 term.

Mr Amitava Basu was a cherished colleague, mentor, and friend whose quiet generosity and readiness to help defined his presence in every professional space he entered. Within IASIA, he served with distinction as Board Member (2022–2025), Functional Vice-President for Regional and International Cooperation (2025–2028), and Co-Chair of Working Group IV on Subnational Governance and Development, bringing careful judgment, deep collegiality, and an unwavering commitment to strengthening cooperation across the global community of public administration schools and institutes. He was not only a leader but a listener: thoughtful, respectful, and always willing to make time for others, especially younger colleagues and students. His intellectual generosity and human warmth strengthened, made IASIA more inclusive, and made it more collaborative.

The International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) is pleased to announce the Call for Nominations for two distinguished awards: the Donald C. Stone Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Advancement and Well-Being of IASIA and The O.P. Dwivedi Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Advancement of Public Administration and Public Policy in the World.

On 15 October 2025, the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) elected Professor Liezel Lues, from the University of the Free State (South Africa), as its new President for the 2025–2028 term. The election also brought forward a new Board of Management, representing institutions from all world regions and reaffirming IASIA’s truly global and inclusive character.

The IASIA 2025 Annual Conference took place in Mexico City, Mexico, from October 13 to 17, 2025, under the theme "Shaping the Future of Governance: Transforming Mindsets, Enhancing Skills, and Expanding Knowledge." Organized in close collaboration with the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) of Mexico, the event welcomed over 200 participants from around the world, marking the return of an IIAS event to Mexico more than 50 years after the Institute’s first conference outside Europe.

It is with sincere gratitude and a profound sense of responsibility that I accept the honour of serving as IASIA President. This opportunity constitutes a milestone in my public service journey, shaped first by years in government and later through academic engagement in the field of public administration. The role to which I have been dedicated has been built on hard work and steadfast commitment, and I remain indebted to the various colleagues, mentors, and institutions that supported and inspired my growth. I step into this presidency with energy and optimism, fully committed to the opportunities that lie ahead for IASIA and its global stakeholders.

We are excited to announce that registration for the IASIA 2025 Annual Conference is now open!
