EGPA is the leading European learned society for administrative sciences, with 50+ years of history, 15 active Permanent Study Groups, and a growing international community of scholars, practitioners and early-career researchers. As the European group of IIAS, it holds a unique position bridging academic research and public administration practice across Europe and beyond.

EGPA Conference

The EGPA Conference is the premier annual gathering for academics, young researchers, and practitioners in public administration across Europe. The conference features plenary sessions, a Symposium for Doctoral Students and Young Researchers, thematic panels, study group sessions, and institutional meetings. Social events, including a gala dinner and networking receptions, offer the perfect opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and build lasting professional relationships.

We stand at a pivotal moment. Recent challenges have tested our cohesion, yet they also offer a unique opportunity to renew, modernize, and strengthen EGPA within the broader IIAS family. In an era marked by polarization and uncertainty, EGPA’s strong anchoring in the global public administration community remains one of its greatest assets. The Permanent Study Groups (PSGs) are the flagship forums of the EGPA community – dynamic spaces where scholars from around the world come together to explore enduring and emerging questions in public governance. Ad Hoc Groups

Ad Hoc Groups (AHGs) are an experimental forum for academic teams eager to explore specialized or emerging topics within a limited timeframe. AHGs provide a flexible space to test new ideas, methods, and collaborations. We especially encourage early-career researchers to take the lead in proposing AHGs for the upcoming Annual Conference in Rome. Outstanding initiatives – those demonstrating clear impact, engagement, and sustainability – may evolve into a Permanent Study Group (PSG) in the future.
